Happy Monday, Cyprus! If the return to the workweek wasn't enough to make you sweat, the weather is more than happy to help. A standard seasonal low-pressure system is hanging around the island today, delivering exactly the kind of blue skies and bright sunshine we’ve all come to expect.
Today’s forecast: High sun, light breezes
The sun is out in full force, so expect a mostly clear day across the board.
Inland: Temperatures will peak at a quite warm 38°C. It’s definitely enough to make you crave an iced frappé, but let's be honest. We've all survived much worse.
The coasts: If you're lucky enough to be by the sea today instead of at your desk, the southeastern, eastern, and northern coasts will hover around a pleasant 34°C. The rest of the coastline will stay a slightly cooler 32°C.
The mountains: For those looking to escape the heat entirely, Troodos is calling with a refreshing 28°C at the highest peaks.
The wind & sea: Winds will start off a bit indecisive, blowing light to moderate (3 to 4 Beaufort) from various directions before settling into a southwesterly to northwesterly groove. If you’re down on the southwestern coast later today, you might catch a brief, strong gust of 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea itself will remain on its best behavior; just a slight chop, perfect for a post-work dip.
Tonight: Mist, micro-climates, and midnight calm
As darkness falls, the clear skies remain, though things will quiet down.
Don't be surprised if you wake up to a bit of patchy mist or low cloud cover in the early hours of Tuesday morning, particularly if you are along the southern or southeastern coasts.
Winds will die down to a gentle 3 Beaufort, leaving the sea beautifully calm.
The outlook: Wash, rinse, repeat
If you’re hoping for a dramatic shift in the weather to distract you from the Tuesday-to-Thursday grind, you’re out of luck.
Tuesday & Wednesday: Expect more of the same. Temperatures will hold steady, sitting just a touch above the usual seasonal averages.
Thursday: A tiny bit of relief is on the horizon. Temperatures are predicted to dip slightly, bringing us right back to the dead-average, normal levels for this time of year.
Keep your sunglasses handy, your water bottles filled, and try not to spill that iced coffee on your keyboard today.
