A shy little low-pressure system has tiptoed in and is currently rearranging the furniture. Nothing apocalyptic, just enough personality to keep things interesting.
Today
Think of it as mostly sunny with commitment issues.
Partly cloudy skies that will flirt with isolated showers and the occasional grumpy thunderstorm later in the afternoon, mainly up in the mountains, inland, and across the north.
Winds start undecided and gentle (force 3), then settle into a polite south-westerly to north-westerly breeze (force 3 to 4). The sea will look slightly ruffled, like it just got out of bed.
Temperatures: a toasty 30 °C inland, around 28 °C on the southern and eastern coasts, a more civilised 26 °C along the west and north, and a crisp 20 °C up on the highest peaks. Perfect beach-to-mountain range.
Tonight
Clouds may thicken briefly and drop a few isolated showers over the north and east, just enough to make the night feel mysterious.
Winds turn north-westerly to north-easterly (and south-easterly along the northern coast), still light (force 3). Sea goes from slightly rough to almost glass.
Tuesday
Same script, different day: partly cloudy, with those same afternoon shower or thunderstorm cameos over the mountains, inland and north. Summer is still hanging on by its fingernails.
Wednesday
Clouds start winning the argument. Mainly cloudy with local showers and the odd isolated thunderstorm, especially in the afternoon and evening. The atmosphere is clearly preparing for a change of season.
Thursday
More of the same scattered showers and isolated rumbles. Temperatures begin their gentle slide from Wednesday onward, dipping below the seasonal average. Summer is officially packing its bags, slowly and with maximum drama.
In short: still warm enough for shorts, just with a higher chance of “did anyone bring a light jacket?” moments. Enjoy the last of the heat while it lasts. Autumn is clearing its throat.
