On Sunday, police discovered two packages containing drugs on a beach in the government-controlled areas of the Famagusta district. Over 20 kg of cannabis has washed up in the area in the last ten days.

According to police spokesman Christos Andreou, a number of packages containing cannabis have been discovered in various locations throughout the Famagusta district over the last ten days.

Two more packages were discovered and seized on Sunday, following a coordinated police operation in the Famagusta district's coastal area.

The packages contained large amounts of drugs, and police are investigating whether they were thrown into the sea by anyone to get rid of them and whether they have washed up on the beaches of Famagusta.

More than 20 kilos of cannabis washed up on beaches in the Famagusta district in the last ten days of December. Only on Friday, December 30, three kilos of cannabis were discovered on a nearby beach and seized by police.
