A mother has filed a complaint against Larnaca General Hospital after her newborn was found with burns, allegedly caused during a bath given by hospital staff.
According to her report to the police, the incident took place on April 8 while the baby was being washed by nurses at the hospital. She claims the water temperature was too high, resulting in burns on the infant’s legs. Following this, the baby was transferred to Makarios Hospital to receive medical care.
Authorities have confirmed that they are investigating the case. At the same time, the hospital’s administration has launched its own internal inquiry into what happened.
The spokesperson for the State Health Services Organisation (OKYPY) is aware of the allegations. Police say that once all examinations are completed, the collected evidence will be reviewed to determine whether any criminal charges may be justified.
