A 64-year-old man has been found dead at his home in Limassol, while his wife remains in critical condition in hospital, with early indications pointing to inhalation of liquefied petroleum gas, commonly known as LPG or cooking gas.

The incident took place on Easter Day but only came to light later. The couple was discovered in the kitchen of their home by their 40-year-old son, who immediately alerted emergency services. Firefighters and police attended the scene to investigate.

Paramedics confirmed that the man had died, and there were no visible signs of injury on his body. His wife was taken urgently to hospital, where she was intubated and admitted to the intensive care unit, where she continues to fight for her life.

Initial findings from the Fire Service suggest there may have been a leak of cooking gas in the kitchen.

A post-mortem examination was conducted by forensic pathologist Nikolaos Charalambous. Samples have also been collected for laboratory and toxicological testing to determine the exact cause of death.
