National Guard Thanasis case takes a shocking turn

Limassol court's decision raises eyebrows

Newsroom / CNA

Family of National Guard Thanasis seeks new lawyer as their attorney Loukis Loukaides expressed today his intention to withdraw from the case for health reasons.

During today's death inquest proceedings at the Limassol District Court, Mr. Loukaides stated his intention. The court set a new date for November 24th at 11:00.

In the course of the proceedings, the court rejected the request of forensic pathologist Panikos Stavrianou to attend as an interested party. Mr. Stavrianou will be summoned later to testify but won't participate in the death inquest.

Today's trial was expected to schedule the next steps of the death inquest. However, Mr. Loukaides' decision to withdraw changed the circumstances.

The court set the case for November 24th, allowing the family time to find a new lawyer. When the new attorney appears on November 24th, scheduling for the next steps of the death inquest is anticipated.
