The Cyprus Police have announced that since the beginning of the year, 4,883 people, who resided illegally in Cyprus, have left the country through forced and voluntary return procedures, compared to 3,887 people in the corresponding period last year.

The press release says that the Police carried out another coordinated operation for the repatriation of foreigners who resided illegally in the Republic of Cyprus.

It adds that in collaboration with FRONTEX, a number of third-country nationals were repatriated on June 4, 2024, in a joint return flight carried out by the German Authorities. This is the 8th participation of the Republic of Cyprus in FRONTEX joint operations in 2024.

The efforts of the Police and the Aliens and Immigration Unit, to maximize the number of returns, continue, the press release concludes.
