Nineteen refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers came together in Nicosia's Strovolos municipality on Sunday, as part of the “Colourful Societies” programme that helps foreigners integrate socially and gain job skills.
Sunday’s seminar was organised by local authorities with financial support from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund as well as the Republic of Cyprus.
Individuals who attended the event, included Syrians, Palestinians, Cameroonians, and Yemenis among others, all of whom had an opportunity to gain or brush up on their basic skills and knowledge that would help in the job market.
The activities included resume preparation and curriculum vita touch-ups, as well as helping people locate job vacancies and approach potential employers.
Knews understands that participation was free but participants were asked to show immigration documents before sitting in, such as documents showing refugee status or subsidiary protection status, a residence permit or letter of recognition, or confirmation letter for asylum seekers.
The announcement said a lucky winner would walk away with a brand new tablet.
