The first phase of the new Nicosia outer ring road's construction is projected to be finished by the first half of 2024, according to Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades. This segment spans from the Lakatamia Industrial Zone to the Dali Industrial Zone. Vafeades highlighted the project's role in alleviating traffic problems in Nicosia, stating that construction started in March 2020 and is expected to conclude in spring 2024.

The project comprises three phases. Concerning the Stavrou interchange in Nicosia, designed to ease capital entry congestion, the Minister shared that the project's tender, study, and construction are slated for completion by the end of 2023.

Additionally, in 2024, construction will begin on Alexandroupoleos Avenue in Strovolos, with an estimated two-year timeline.

Regarding the Nicosia - Palechoriou - Agros highway under construction at 60 million euros, initiated in May 2023, it is foreseen to last three and a half years.

Starting Monday, a new dedicated bus lane will operate from the Strovolos industrial area to the Limassol and Athalassa Avenues junction (Kalispera traffic lights). This lane targets Nicosia traffic congestion. It's designed to connect GSP Stadium with Solomos Square, providing swift, cost-free transport for employees.

Furthermore, Alexis Vafeades shared efforts to implement a "door-to-door" system. Initial coverage this year will encompass primary schools and kindergartens in the Strovolos area.
