Nine people were arrested for illegal stay during a coordinated police operation in Larnaca Wednesday morning. Two others were detained for outstanding warrants, authorities said.
The operation, which began at 6 a.m. and ended around noon, targeted two apartment complexes and involved multiple agencies, including the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department, the Aliens and Immigration Service, the Drug Enforcement Unit, the Fire Service, and the Municipality of Larnaca.
“The focus was on identifying illegal foreign nationals, addressing nuisance complaints, and related offenses,” said Spyros Chrysostomou, spokesperson for the Larnaca Police Directorate.
In addition to the arrests, traffic checks in the area resulted in 15 citations. Officials from the Municipality and Fire Service also carried out inspections within their respective areas, with follow-up measures planned for any health and safety violations found.
