Nissan LEAF and Qashqai e-POWER Take Top Honors at the ''Motor Awards 2025''

Press Release

Nissan has added another pair of trophies to its growing collection of accolades. The Japanese automaker scooped up two major awards at the Motor Awards 2025, organized by News UK. The Nissan LEAF was named “Car of the Year” by The Sun, while the Qashqai e-POWER earned the title of “Hybrid Car of the Year” for the second consecutive year. Both models are designed and built in the UK before being exported worldwide, a fact that adds even more weight to the recognition.

Nissan LEAF

The award for the all-new LEAF marks the culmination of Nissan’s ongoing effort to redefine the electric hatchback that revolutionized the automotive industry more than a decade ago. With a range of up to 380 kilometers per charge, a refreshed design, a more spacious cabin for families, and advanced technologies, the new LEAF stands out from anything else on the road.

Qashqai e-POWER

At the same ceremony, the Qashqai e-POWER was named “Hybrid Car of the Year” for the second year running, confirming its dominance in the hybrid category. The third-generation e-POWER system delivers an even smoother and quieter driving experience, achieving fuel efficiency of up to 62 mpg, while combining the feel of a fully electric car with the practicality of one that doesn’t require charging.

James Taylor, Managing Director of Nissan GB, expressed his delight:

“We’re thrilled that the new LEAF has been recognized as Car of the Year by The Sun. As our latest 100% electric model, it showcases Nissan’s technological excellence and is a worthy successor to the pioneering first LEAF. At the same time, the Qashqai e-POWER’s second consecutive win proves the success of our innovative system. Best of all, both models represent the best of British engineering, designed and built right here.”

With these two distinctions, Nissan continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and local manufacturing, further strengthening its position as one of the UK’s leading automotive brands.
