Ten Cypriot women will soon have the chance to study in the fields of shipping, innovation, and technology, thanks to a new scholarship program announced by the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality and the Cyprus State Scholarships Foundation (IKYK).
The initiative, launched in memory of Dr. Christiana Kouta, a well-known advocate for women’s rights and gender equality, offers €3,000 scholarships for one academic year of undergraduate studies, either in Cyprus or abroad.
Women aged 25 and older with a high school diploma grade of 16/20 or higher are eligible to apply. Selection will be based not only on academic achievement but also on social and health criteria, including factors such as single-parent households, large families, disabilities, or serious illness.
Applications are open from Friday, October 10, to Friday, October 31, 2025, at 3 p.m. and must include all necessary documentation. Submissions can be made in person, by post, or by email to [info@ikyk.mof.gov.cy](mailto: info@ikyk.mof.gov.cy). Application forms are available on the IKYK website, and officials emphasized that the deadline will be strictly enforced.
The scholarship program aims to empower more women to enter male-dominated sectors and continues the legacy of Dr. Kouta’s lifelong fight for equality and opportunity.
