Police did not file any charges after an elderly woman succumbed to her injuries over the weekend following last month’s road accident in Limassol.

A 62-year-old Greek Cypriot woman, who was struck by a food delivery motorcycle in Limassol on February 23, succumbed to her injuries over the weekend.

A 28-year-old Indian man, who was on was an evening food delivery on Makariou Avenue around 7:45pm, had struck the woman who was on foot according to reports.

It was understood that the woman had attempted to cross the street at a point where there was no pedestrian crossing, while police ruled out speeding as a factor in the accident.

The woman had been transferred from Limassol to Nicosia General Hospital in critical condition, after suffering severe head trauma including internal bleeding. Doctors said she passed away on Saturday.

Police said the delivery man, who had been briefly detained for questioning, was treated for a pelvis injury and then released.
