A police officer en route to Kenya was detained at Larnaca International Airport, after colleagues from internal affairs suspected he was pocketing items confiscated from passengers.
According to local media, police officers working for the “untouchables” within the internal affairs department took one of their own aside at the airport, as he was getting ready to check in his luggage on Friday.
The officers went through their colleague’s personal belongings and found a number of items in his luggage, such as bottles of alcohol, cologne, perfumes, and a number of similar items.
Knews understands that the officer was placed under surveillance for some time. He was being suspected of stealing items his colleagues confiscated from passengers, who were told at the gate they could not bring on board the aircraft a number of duty-free items or over a specific limit.
