Cyprus Health Ministry announced on Friday that seven COVID-19 patients, four men and three women, died from 8 to 14 July while 15,386 new cases were traced.
The total number of COVID-19 patients who have died is now 1,086, while the total number of confirmed cases increased to 545,896. The positivity rate stands at 12.58%. A total of 122,335 tests were carried out during July 8-14.
Currently, 117 COVID-19 patients are being treated in hospital, 9 of them in critical condition.
The seven patients who died from July 8 to July 14 are an 87-year-old man who died on July 9, a 76-year-old man who died on July 10, an 87-year-old woman who died on July 10, a 76-year-old man who died on July 11, an 87-year-old man who died on July 12, a 76-year-old woman who died on July 12 and an 87-year-old woman who died on July 12.
Meanwhile, two patients who have ceased to be contagious continue to be treated for COVID-19 in an Intensive Treatment Unit and are intubated.
The number of PCR tests conducted from July 8 - 14 is 5,265. A total of 1,907 individuals tested positive and the positivity rate is 20.84%. The number of rapid tests done is 117,070, out of which 14,289 were positive. The positivity rate is 12.21%.
In the framework of contact tracing, 24 PCR tests were carried out and there were 11 positive cases (positivity rate of 45.83%). A total of 3.844 PCR tests were carried out on private initiative and there were 727 positive cases (positivity rate of 18.91%).
Moreover, 98,599 antigen rapid tests were done on private initiatives and there were 13.424 positive cases (positivity rate of 13.61%).
Through the Health Ministry's programs, 18.471 rapid tests were conducted and there were 865 positive cases.
The sampling units carried out 9.013 rapid tests and traced 681 positive cases (positivity rate of 7.56%)
At the National Guard, 550 rapid tests were done and there were 18 positive cases (positivity rate of 3.27%).
At homes for the aged, 5,207 rapid tests were done and 85 positive cases were traced (positivity rate of 1.49%).
At closed structures, 3,206 rapid tests were carried out and there were 81 positive cases (positivity rate of 2.53%)
