A Paphos court on Tuesday found a 53-year-old hotel manager guilty of sexually abusing two British teenagers who were staying at the hotel during a summer holiday in Cyprus.

The girls, both 16 at the time, had traveled to Cyprus with the parents of one of them. They told their parents what had happened during their stay at a hotel in the wider Paphos area and reported the abuse to police in July 2023.

Kathimerini first reported the complaint on July 7, 2023. Police arrested the manager, who was 50 at the time, and recorded video statements from both girls as part of the investigation.

The Paphos Permanent Criminal Court heard the case behind closed doors to protect the girls’ privacy. Senior Public Prosecutor Xenia Xenophontos represented the prosecution.

The case returns to court on Nov. 18, when defense lawyers are expected to present arguments for a lighter sentence. The court will impose the sentence at a later date.
