Members of the Aliens and Immigration Service arrested 25 third-country nationals who were illegally residing in the Republic of Cyprus during a nationwide coordinated operation, authorities said Tuesday.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to address illegal and irregular immigration. Of those arrested, ten were repatriated the same day, with plans in place for the repatriation of the remaining 15.
Since the beginning of the year, a total of 6,300 individuals illegally residing in Cyprus have been repatriated through voluntary and forced return procedures, according to police and other competent authorities. This represents an increase from the corresponding period last year when 5,257 individuals were repatriated.
The Police continue their efforts to maximize the number of repatriations, aiming to send third-country nationals back to their countries of origin.
