Police arrested two men Saturday afternoon following a car chase in Paphos, during which officers fired their service weapons. A third suspect, a 39-year-old man wanted in connection with murder and robbery, remains at large.
Authorities said the 33-year-old man taken into custody is also wanted in the same case. A 35-year-old man who was with the suspects was arrested at the scene.
Paphos Deputy Police Operations Chief Michalis Nikolaou said officers had placed an apartment building under surveillance around midday after receiving information that the 33-year-old suspect, wanted for the attempted murder of a 32-year-old man on April 30, was staying there. The 39-year-old suspect, wanted in connection with the April 28 robbery of a tourist couple, was also believed to be at the location.
At about 12:25 p.m., the two suspects and an unidentified third man left the building in a car. Police intercepted the vehicle shortly afterward. All three men attempted to flee on foot. Officers apprehended the 33-year-old and the third man, who was later identified as 35 years old. The 39-year-old suspect escaped and remains at large.
Police confirmed that officers fired their weapons during the arrest but did not report any injuries.
Investigations are ongoing.
