What was once a hub for oil and gas storage in Larnaca is about to be transformed into a thriving, modern neighborhood. The Horizon Towers project, set to rise from the ground on the site of the city’s old refineries, promises to turn this industrial stretch of coastline into a vibrant community filled with homes, businesses, and green spaces.
According to Kathimerini's Dorita Yiannakou, the ambitious development being led by Shajwawi Lebovich Karekla Developments Ltd. will feature six sleek, high-rise towers, ranging from 16 to 20 stories tall. With plans for nearly 600 residential apartments, the Horizon Towers will bring new life to Larnaca, offering a mix of modern living, commercial space, and plenty of places to relax.
The two tallest towers, standing 20 stories high at 86 meters, will each contain nearly 100 apartments. The other four towers will range from 16 to 17 stories, with more than 300 additional homes. This mix of heights will help create a stunning new skyline for Larnaca, one that blends perfectly with the Mediterranean backdrop.
But it’s not just about the buildings. Horizon Towers is designed to be a complete community. Residents will enjoy everything from cafes and shops to wellness centers, gyms, and even a padel court. For families, there will be a playground, green areas, and three swimming pools—one for adults, one for kids, and another dedicated to relaxation and exercise. The development also plans to add 427 parking spaces, including special spots for those with disabilities, and bike racks for the more environmentally conscious.
The two separate plots that make up the Horizon Towers development will also include commercial space, offices, and a three-story multipurpose building, which will be a central hub for businesses and visitors. The development’s design focuses on creating a vibrant, self-sustaining community that’s as welcoming to workers and visitors as it is to residents.
The Horizon Towers project is part of Larnaca’s larger effort to revitalize the former refinery area. Developers hope that this transformation will not only provide much-needed housing but also bring more life and business opportunities to the city. And with the site now in the midst of an environmental review, the countdown to construction has already begun. If all goes according to plan, work will begin soon, and the development is expected to be completed within 18 months.
