Police are investigating a large fight that reportedly broke out in Xylofagou on Wednesday evening, involving between 15 and 20 people armed with a variety of weapons.
Officers were called to a road in the village at around 9:40pm after receiving reports of a violent confrontation. A significant police response was sent to the area, but by the time officers arrived, everyone involved had already left.
Investigators later searched the scene and collected several items that may assist the inquiry. A vehicle believed to have been used by one of the participants was also found and is being examined.
According to the information available, those involved were seen fighting in the middle of the road while throwing stones. They were also reportedly carrying crowbars, metal bars, hammers and knives.
No arrests have been announced and police have not released any details of injuries linked to the incident.
Investigators are continuing their inquiries to identify those involved and establish both the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and what led to the violence.
