A lawyer was taken into custody at the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) offices in Limassol after a 19-year-old client accused him of sexual harassment while he was providing legal advice.
The incident unfolded during the investigation of a drug case. Police officers had carried out an operation at a house in Mouttagiaka, where they reportedly found and seized about 65 grams of illegal drugs. A 19-year-old woman and another individual were arrested and taken to YKAN headquarters for questioning.
After her arrest, the young woman asked for a particular lawyer to represent her. The request was approved and the lawyer attended the Drug Law Enforcement Unit offices to meet with his client.
According to the complaint filed by the 19-year-old, the alleged sexual harassment took place while the pair were discussing her legal case.
The allegation was passed to the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID), whose officers arrested the lawyer at the YKAN offices.
Police said the investigation is being handled by the Limassol CID.
