Police across Cyprus carried out a large coordinated enforcement operation overnight, resulting in 121 traffic violation reports as authorities intensified efforts to maintain public order and prevent serious criminal activity.
According to an official police announcement, the operation also led to the arrest of three individuals. The arrests were connected to offenses including public drunkenness, causing a disturbance, resisting lawful arrest, and driving at excessively high speeds, with two cases involving dangerous speeding.
During the course of the night, officers stopped and inspected 311 drivers and passengers as part of targeted traffic checks. In addition, 14 premises were inspected in an effort to address potential unlawful activity and strengthen preventive policing measures.
The traffic enforcement campaign identified numerous violations. Out of the 121 citations issued, the majority involved speeding, accounting for 69 cases. Police also reported that eight additional traffic-related cases are currently under investigation.
As part of the enforcement actions taken during the operation, five vehicles were confiscated while police continue their inquiries.
