Cyprus and Qatar discuss humanitarian aid and regional stability

The Emir of Qatar arrives in Cyprus on Monday for an official visit during which he will discuss with President of the Republic bilateral relations, regional developments, the Cyprus' initiative for humanitarian aid to Gaza (Amalthea) as well as the Cyprus issue and EU - Qatar relations.

A press release by the Presidency has said that the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will arrive in Cyprus on Monday, May 27. He will be received at Larnaca Airport by the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides. An informal tete - a - tete meeting at the airport will follow.

The following morning, 28 of May, the Emir of Qatar will go to the Presidential Palace, where the official welcome ceremony will take place, followed by a tete-a-tete meeting between the two leaders. Extended talks between the delegations of the two countries will follow. Afterwards, the President of the Republic will host a luncheon in honor of the Emir of Qatar.

Talks between the two leaders will focus among others on bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen them, regional developments including the "Amalthea" initiative of Cyprus for a maritime corridor to bring humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, the Cyprus issue, as well as issues related to EU-Qatar relations.

The Emir will depart the same day.
