Newsroom

A 53-year-old man was arrested by police in Limassol on Sunday after stolen property was found in his possession. Authorities are investigating five separate theft cases involving the suspect.

The arrest was made by officers from the Germasogeia Police Station and the cycling police unit following a theft complaint filed around 3:30 p.m. by two 16-year-olds.

The teenagers reported that their two mobile phones and a gold chain with a cross had been stolen from the Dasoudi beach area in Germasogeia around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday. Using a tracking app, the youths located one of their phones in Germasogeia and alerted the police.

Officers tracked the signal to the area and found the 53-year-old man with the stolen items in his possession. In addition to the two mobile phones and the gold chain, police discovered three more mobile phones and an electronic wristwatch, which were also confirmed as stolen. Another mobile phone found with the suspect is currently being tested to determine its ownership status.

The suspect was taken into custody for further investigation. The case is being handled by the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Germasogeia Police Station.
