A 22-year-old woman was hospitalized after losing control of a quad bike while trying to park at the Sea Caves in Cape Greco on Wednesday morning.
The woman was driving the vehicle with a 26-year-old passenger when the accident happened at about 11am on August 12. Both women fell to the ground after the driver lost control.
The quad bike continued without them and went over the edge, eventually landing in the sea and sinking.
The driver was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department at Famagusta General Hospital, where doctors found that she had suffered a vertebral fracture. She remains hospitalized for treatment.
Police confirmed the accident after a video showing the quad bike circulated on social media. Officers who investigated the incident established that the vehicle was being driven by the 22-year-old, while the passenger was 26.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is continuing.
