Raindrops in the cedars, showers in Platres (VIDEO)

Low pressure brings a splash of rain before sunnier skies return.

Newsroom

Showers are in progress this afternoon in Paphos Forest, around Tripylos near the Cedar Valley, bringing a soft rainy touch to the trees. Rain is also falling in Platres, right at the Pendeli Resort.

These showers come with a seasonal low pressure system moving through the area, making conditions just a little unstable. Later today, skies should clear in many places, though some clouds may still linger over the mountains, where a quick shower or even a brief thunderstorm isn’t out of the question.

Winds are light to moderate, and the sea is mostly calm with just a gentle stir. Tonight will stay mostly clear, with some low clouds here and there, and perhaps a little mist by dawn.

Looking ahead, the weekend should bring mostly fair skies with passing clouds, while Monday looks set for more unsettled weather with local showers and the chance of isolated storms.

Whether you’re in the forest, up in Platres, or by the sea, keep an umbrella handy just in case, but also expect some sunshine to peek through.
