Severe weather conditions have been affecting the Paphos district since Wednesday afternoon, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds. In the village of Kissonerga, a storm uprooted a cypress tree, approximately 15 meters tall, along the road leading to the old cemetery. The tree fell onto electricity cables belonging to the Cyprus Electricity Authority (EAC), causing a power outage in the area.
Peyia Municipality crews are currently working to cut down and remove the tree to ensure the safety of both drivers and pedestrians. Crews from the EAC are also expected to arrive at the scene to restore the electricity supply.
Local authorities and the police are urging residents to exercise caution when traveling, as severe weather conditions continue to affect the region.
