A German tourist was shot in the leg in broad daylight while riding his bicycle near the camping site at Polis Chrysochous.

On Monday afternoon around 3:30pm, a 50-year-old male visitor was riding a bicycle along the road heading south from the Polis Chrysochous campground.
The tourist heard a loud boom coming from a pickup truck moving northbound, while at the same time he started to feel a severe burning in his left knee
Suddenly, according to the Cyprus News Agency, the tourist heard a "loud boom" coming out of a pickup truck moving northbound, while at the same time he started to feel a severe burning in his left knee.
The cyclist visited the local hospital nearby and was told by the doctor on duty that he suffered a gunshot wound caused by an air gun.
An ambulance then transported the man to Paphos General Hospital where he was expected to undergo surgery to remove the pellets.
Paphos police said they were investigating the incident and searching for the person who fired the shot, while it was not immediately clear whether the shooting was an accident or on purpose.
According to the victim, there were two people inside the pickup truck.
