A Turkish Cypriot wanted by Interpol has been arrested in the north in connection with drug trafficking, theft, false imprisonment, and money laundering offences.
According to media reports, 40-year-old Osman Aydeniz was apprehended by police in Kyrenia and later appeared in court where he was remanded in custody for three days.
Aydeniz was described as a suspect in the kidnapping and false imprisonment of another man for three months. He was featured on UK’s Crimestoppers and his name was included on the National Crime Agency list in connection with a conspiracy to supply 17.83 kg of diamorphine. Three others have already been convicted in connection with this offence, according to NCA.
The suspect was also wanted for conspiracy to commit theft and transferring criminal property, while local reports said he was suspected of being involved in theft and money laundering schemes.
