A 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck near the city of Hama in western Syria late Monday, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences.
According to a report on Alarabiya News, the quake, occurring at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles), was also felt in neighboring Lebanon.
Syrian state news agency SANA reported that the tremor caused panic and resulted in dozens of injuries, though there were no reported fatalities.
