Three 18-year-old students were arrested Monday morning after police found weapons and fireworks in their vehicles, authorities said.
The arrests came during a coordinated police operation in Strovolos aimed at addressing youth delinquency at the start of the new school year.
Around 8:15 a.m., members of the Nicosia Crime Prevention Unit (OPE), the Mobile Immediate Action Unit (MMAΔ), and the “Z” Team stopped three vehicles following a tip, police said.
Searches of the vehicles revealed that the first contained two clubs, the second had a fireworks launcher, and the third carried three types of pyrotechnics.
All three students were arrested on the spot and taken to Strovolos Police Station for further investigation.
