We have finally made it to the 'calm after the storm' phase of the week. A weak high-pressure system is moving in like a peace offering, and the atmosphere is finally starting to feel like it actually belongs in May.
Expect today to be a gorgeous, mostly clear day for the majority of the island. The sun is putting in some overtime, pushing inland temperatures up to a very comfortable 26°C. If you’re hanging out on the coast, you’ll be enjoying a pleasant 22°C to 24°C, which is perfect for a seaside walk without the wind-chill factor we’ve been dealing with lately.
The only tiny bit of drama today is a few clouds that might gather in the mountains during the afternoon, potentially dropping an isolated shower. Speaking of the mountains, that stubborn snow at Chionistra has dwindled down to just 7 cm. At the rate we’re going, it’ll be a memory by the weekend.
Tonight, the tranquil vibes will continue after dark. The sky will stay clear, the winds will remain light and breezy, and the sea is going to be exceptionally well-behaved. It’s the kind of night where you can finally leave a window open without needing a parka.
The weekend outlook
Friday and beyond: The mostly clear theme is here to stay. Tomorrow and through the weekend, the sun will be the main character. The only thing to watch out for is Saturday, when some thin dust might decide to drift through the atmosphere, giving the sky a slightly hazy look.
The best part? Temperatures are on a steady climb. We are heading well above the seasonal averages, so if you’ve been waiting for the real Cyprus heat to return, your wish has officially been granted. Enjoy the warmth!
