A tourist couple was attacked and robbed early Sunday in the coastal city of Paphos, sending both to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. on Poseidonos Avenue. A 30-year-old man and woman, both tourists, told police they were approached by a group of young individuals while walking in the area.
According to the report, one of the youths began harassing the woman. When the man confronted them, three members of the group allegedly assaulted him and took a shoulder bag containing his personal belongings.
As the woman tried to intervene, another youth grabbed her small bag, which contained her mobile phone, before the group fled the scene, police said.
Officers responded to the area and conducted investigations at and around the scene.
The couple was treated at Paphos General Hospital. Police said the woman sustained abrasions and bruises to her arms, while the man suffered similar injuries to his head and arms. Both were treated and later discharged.
The case is under investigation by the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department.
