Tuesday’s outlook: Steady as she goes (with a hint of a breeze)

Inland hits 39°C as the summer rhythm locks in.

Newsroom

If you were hoping for a wild plot twist to shake up your Tuesday, the Mediterranean climate isn't about to cooperate. The island is firmly under the influence of a standard seasonal low-pressure system, meaning we are locked into a very familiar, perfectly predictable summer pattern.

It’s another bright, clear day across Cyprus. The numbers are shifting up by just a fraction, but nothing we haven't seen a thousand times before.

Inland: The capital and central plains will see the mercury hit 39°C. It’s the kind of afternoon where staying indoors under the air conditioning just makes sense.

The west coast: Paphos and the western shoreline win the geographic lottery today, keeping things a highly manageable 31°C.

The rest of the coast: The southern, eastern, and northern coastlines will slide comfortably into the middle at around 34°C.

If you have the luxury of heading uphill, the highest mountain regions offer a vastly superior 30°C.

Wind & sea conditions: The real story today is the wind. While the morning starts off calm, a southwesterly to northwesterly breeze will steadily wake up as the afternoon progresses. Expect things to get a bit lively along the coast, with winds picking up to 4 to 5 Beaufort (moderate to strong). The sea will mirror this change, transitioning from flat and calm in the morning to a bit choppy later in the day.

Once the sun sets, the wind will pack it in, dropping back down to a sleepy 3 Beaufort. Skies will stay clear, though early risers on Wednesday morning might notice some local low clouds drifting across the coastal areas before the sun burns them off.

Looking ahead at the rest of the week

Wednesday: Copy and paste today's forecast. Temperatures will hold steady, sitting just a hair above what is typical for late June.

Thursday & Friday: A minor, welcome dip in temperatures is expected, pulling the island right back down to its exact seasonal averages just in time for the weekend.
