A third suspect, a 41-year-old male, was arrested Thursday in connection with an attempted murder against a British tourist in Coral Bay, hours after the Paphos District Court remanded two others for six days.

Police say the detained man, described as a UK resident, was apprehended Thursday afternoon, following the remand of two other suspects, a 27-year-old Greek Cypriot and a 34-year-old male from Bulgaria. Initial reports had incorrectly identified the two suspects as British nationals.

The three men are being accused of making an attempt on a 28-year-old Briton, during a brawl outside a pub in Coral Bay.

Media reports said a group of tourists was having fun in the pub Wednesday early morning hours while being too loud, prompting a reaction from other customers who later confronted each other outside the bar.

The victim was reportedly struck in the head and later spotted injured along a sidewalk. He was rushed to the Emergency Room at Paphos General Hospital and then transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at Nicosia General due to his critical condition.

While no specific details could be confirmed regarding the attack, local reports said two of the suspects admitted to being present during the incident but attempted to “play the role of peacemaker.”

Crime investigators from Paphos CID are in charge of the case jointly with the Peyia police station.
