Two Porsches, €10 in the bank and inherited water: Inside MPs’ finances

Cyprus MPs’ asset declarations offer some surprising details, but purchase costs, gifts and bank balances need careful reading.

Newsroom

A London apartment, €200,000 worth of furniture, bank accounts holding loose change and an inheritance of ''running water'' are among the standout details in MPs’ asset declarations.

They sit side by side in parliament. On their financial disclosure forms, the distances between them grow considerably.

From Giorgos Pamborides’ two Porsches to Ephraim Christou’s €10.32 in bank deposits, the 33 published declarations take readers through garages, living rooms, London property, olive trees and accounts where every cent is recorded.

Konstantinos Konstantinou: Two olive trees and a little Binance

Konstantinos Konstantinou’s declaration includes two separate entries marked “OLIVE TREE” in Akaki. Further down are €105 in cryptocurrency held through Binance and total bank deposits of €455.

Odysseas Michaelides: An inheritance of “running water”

Among homes, fields and small shares in jointly owned property, Odysseas Michaelides lists an inheritance that is hard to overlook: a one-eighth share in “running water” in Lapithos.

It is perhaps the most unexpected entry of the lot.

Giorgos Pamborides: The boat costs less than the furniture

A Porsche 911, a Porsche Macan Turbo, a BMW 740i and a Ducati Scrambler: Giorgos Pamborides lists vehicles with a combined acquisition cost of €231,500.

The €100,000 Macan and €32,500 BMW are recorded as purchases made in 2026.

Inside the home, the figures continue: €200,000 in furniture, €150,000 in paintings, €100,000 in valuables and €50,000 in equipment.

There is also a Glastron speedboat, listed at a cost of €10,000. Compared with the furniture, the boat looks like the budget option.

Ephraim Christou: Don’t forget the 32 cents

Four bank entries: three showing zero and one holding €10.32. That is the full amount of bank deposits recorded by Ephraim Christou.

His main asset is an Audi A3 Sportback, listed at €7,000, with the method of acquisition recorded as “purchase/gift.”

His declared net assets total €7,010.32.

Fotini Tsiridou: A €1.27 million London apartment

Fotini Tsiridou records the purchase of a London apartment in 2026 at a cost of €1,275,845.

The same declaration lists bank deposits of €2,162.13 and loans and debit balances totaling €1,254,663.93.

She also declares an inherited 100% ownership stake in Mavrommatis Estates Limited, with €1,000 entered under the heading “share capital – overdraft.” A note alongside the entry states that the company owns property worth approximately €4.2 million.

Giorgos Lysandrides: Two BMWs, €1,037 in the bank

Giorgos Lysandrides lists two BMW 520d cars, with acquisition costs of €52,000 and €63,000.

The second was bought in 2025 using his own funds. His total bank deposits stood at €1,037 on the date of the declaration.

Linos Papayiannis: Even the television makes the list

Linos Papayiannis records a television bought for €580 in 2026, alongside two hunting guns valued at €200 each.

The inventory practically reaches the remote control. This small, specific purchase stands out among pages of property holdings and financial obligations.

Savia Orphanidou: The €3 property entries need explaining

A home in Strovolos, a half-share in a home in Kato Drys and a field in Akaki: Savia Orphanidou lists three property holdings received as gifts, with €1 entered against each.

That adds up to €3 in the “cost/amount” column. It does not represent their current market value.

The properties are, of course, worth more than three euros. The figure reflects the entries recorded for assets acquired through gifts.

Linos Ioannis Hadjigeorgiou: €540.65 in the bank, €48,268.08 in liabilities

Linos Ioannis Hadjigeorgiou declares bank deposits of €540.65, loans and debit balances of €48,268.08, and net assets of minus €47,727.43.

No vehicle is listed. His declaration includes a 10% share in a field and a hunting gun, both received as gifts, with zero entered in the relevant amount column.

Thirty-three declarations published

MPs’ asset declarations for 2026 were released Tuesday morning. At the time of publication, only 33 of the 56 MPs had submitted their declarations.

The newly elected MPs who had not yet submitted were Charalambos Petrides, Andreas Konstantinou, Dimos Georgiades, Michalis Kounounis, Evgenios Hamboulas, Polys Anogyriatis, Andreas Papacharalambous, Michalis Paraskeva, Yiannis Laouris, Dimitris Souglis and Diana Konstantinidou.

For another 12 reelected MPs, the latest declarations on record covered 2024: Annita Demetriou, Nikos Georgiou, Aristos Damianou, Demetris Demetriou, Christiana Erotokritou, Giorgos Karoullas, Nikos Kettiros, Zacharias Koulias, Giorgos Loukaides, Charalambos Pazaros, Nicolas Papadopoulos and Stefanos Stefanou.
