US President Joe Biden sent a congratulatory letter to President Anastasiades today on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the declaration of independence of the Cyprus Republic.
In his letter, the US President expressed his warm congratulations and his deep appreciation for the mutual cooperation between both countries, emphasizing the importance of Cyprus in promoting stability, security and prosperity in the Mediterranean region.
He said, "I continue to monitor developments in Cyprus and the region and look forward to continuing to strengthen and expand our bilateral relations, as well as our security cooperation over the next year.”
He also wrote about his fond memories of his visit to Cyprus in 2014 when he was vice president, while reaffirming his continued support for a UN sponsored settlement based on a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation.
