It was announced today that Ambassador Andreas Mavroyiannis will take over the post of Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the UN in New York. He remains however as chief negotiator of the Greek Cypriot side for the Cyprus issue. Mavroyiannis succeeds Kornelios Korneliou.
Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou said that following Mavroyiannis` new appointment, ''nothing changes as regards to his duties as the negotiator of the Greek Cypriot side for the Cyprus problem''.
He was appointed negotiator in 2013. Observers are expecting more restructuring moves at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Honoured to bid farewell to @antonioguterres who remains committed to continuing his efforts to address the anachronistic division of my country and render Cyprus a normal state pic.twitter.com/ayhl1HDPwx
