Press Release
Police are urging beachgoers to take precautions against theft as visitor numbers increase at coastal areas during the summer season.
The warning follows a reported theft on Saturday at a beach in the Ayia Napa area, where a 36-year-old man told police that jewelry was stolen from his beach bag between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
According to the complaint filed with the Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department, the stolen items included a men’s watch valued at €5,000, a women’s watch worth €3,500, and a white gold engagement ring with a small diamond, valued at €2,500.
Police said officers are maintaining increased patrols in coastal, mountain, and recreational areas during the summer, but also urged the public to take basic steps to protect their belongings.
Recommended precautions include:
- Bring only the amount of money you need.
- Avoid taking valuables such as jewelry, watches, or expensive electronics.
- Keep personal items within sight and never leave them unattended.
The incident remains under investigation.
