Well, that’s one way to try and get rid of it… or bypass an arrest — but it didn’t exactly go as planned.
A driver in Nicosia decided to play it cool yesterday around 5 p.m. when police signaled him to pull over. Instead of stopping, he went for a more "creative" approach: he allegedly tossed a bag of white powder right out the window like yesterday’s trash.
Spoiler alert: police weren’t fooled.
The white substance turned out to be 45 grams of cocaine, which officers quickly scooped up (because, yes, they did see it flying out the window in real time). The driver, a 29-year-old man, was stopped and promptly arrested. He wasn’t alone in the car, a 38-year-old passenger was also present but was apparently just along for the ride. Nothing was found against him.
During the search, police found a large sum of money on the driver, because why not raise even more questions during a drug-related stop?
The 29-year-old is now in custody as investigations by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) continue. Moral of the story? If you're trying to avoid police attention, launching your problems out the window mid-traffic stop probably isn’t your best move.
