The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning, valid from 02:00 until 18:00 today. Since we're publishing at 07:30, that warning is already in force. Isolated heavy thunderstorms are expected to affect the western half of the island initially, spreading to other areas after midday. Rainfall rates could reach 35 to 55 millimetres per hour, hail is likely, and wind gusts in thunderstorms could reach 7 to 8 Beaufort.
