Beware of tax scam emails impersonating the Ministry of Finance

Tax Department warns against phishing emails seeking your personal info

Newsroom

The Tax Department is warning people about an unsolicited email that looks like it's from the Ministry of Finance. This email is trying to get your personal information and bank details by pretending to offer a tax refund.

The Tax Department wants to let everyone know that these emails are scams, and they are trying to trick you into giving away your banking information. If you get one of these emails, it's best to just ignore it.

The Tax Department also wants you to know that they only communicate with people through email addresses that end in: @tax.mof.gov.cy. And if you're entitled to a tax refund, they will send it to your bank account using a secure process that you've previously provided them with. So, be cautious and don't fall for these scams.
