Investment will significantly expand Cloud and equipment colocation capacity, with the first phase due to begin operating in early 2027.

Cyta is expanding its digital infrastructure with the acquisition of the RedMax data center in the Latsia Industrial Area, a project that will significantly increase its ability to deliver Cloud computing and equipment colocation services to customers in Cyprus and overseas.

The agreement includes both the purchase of the existing facility and a major upgrade and expansion. Construction will take place in phases, with the first section expected to enter commercial operation in early 2027.

When completed, the site will become the largest privately owned data center in Cyprus, giving Cyta substantially more capacity to host business IT systems, servers and critical digital infrastructure for companies, government organizations and international clients.

The investment forms part of the telecommunications organization's long-term strategy to expand its data center network as demand for Cloud services continues to grow. The additional capacity is expected to support businesses seeking secure local hosting while offering more options for equipment colocation.

According to Cyta, the facility will be built and operated in line with internationally recognised standards for security, reliability and continuous availability. It will include advanced physical security and cybersecurity systems, obtain ISO certifications and use renewable energy sources to cover part of its electricity requirements.

The expansion is also expected to strengthen Cyprus' digital infrastructure. Combined with Cyta's existing data centers and its international submarine cable network, the new facility is intended to increase the country's ability to handle regional and international data hosting requirements, reinforcing Cyprus' position as a regional data hub.
