Greek retailer Praktiker Hellas considers Cyprus expansion

Home improvement giant explores market entry amid established local competition

Newsroom

The Greek home improvement chain Praktiker Hellas is exploring a potential expansion into Cyprus, according to Kathimerini's Dorita Yiannakou. Founded in Greece, the company is assessing the Cypriot market as a promising addition to its established operations across Greece.

Currently operating 16 stores and backed by over 30 years in the Greek market, Praktiker Hellas is among Greece's leading home improvement and DIY retailers, offering a comprehensive range of products and services for home and garden projects. The company is reportedly gathering insights on Cyprus' competitive landscape, evaluating its market position against existing retailers including Super Home Center, Leroy Merlin, IKEA Cyprus, Oikos Emporium DIY in Paphos, and Mangas Home Improvement.

In addition to its retail stores, Praktiker Hellas operates a specialized “Praktiker Business” division across Greece, serving both small and large-scale projects. With a catalog of 50,000 products and various integrated services, the company delivers a broad shopping experience for all types of home improvements.

Praktiker Hellas is fully owned by Colonnade Finance Sàrl, a Luxembourg-based firm within the Fairfax Group.
