What is coaching?
ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.
Coaching is a distinct service and differs greatly from therapy, consulting, mentoring or training. Individuals who engage in a coaching relationship can expect to experience fresh perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities, enhanced thinking and decision-making skills, enhanced interpersonal effectiveness, and increased confidence in carrying out their chosen work and life roles.
Coaching in Cyprus
The establishment of the ICF Chapter in Cyprus heralds a highly anticipated milestone, carrying substantial benefits for professional coaches, businesses, individuals, and associations alike. Yury Zachek, President of ICF Cyprus Chapter and ICF Master Certified Coach, underscores its significance by stating, "The opening of the ICF Chapter in Cyprus is a long-awaited event for all professional coaches and for the business community in Cyprus".
Given Cyprus' role as a dynamic international hub that unites professionals from across the globe, the introduction of coaching stands as a pivotal development.
Yury Zachek emphasizes, "Cyprus has always been a truly international location, bringing together tens of thousands of professionals from all over the world. Coaching is actively developing in all countries and is currently one of the most effective tools for personal growth and employee development".
The core objective of ICF
The Board of ICF Cyprus Chapter adopted its mission: "Our goal is to further develop the coaching profession and introduce the implementation of the highest ICF standards in Cyprus".
A decision on cooperation with key stakeholders has also been taken: "As a Chapter we plan to actively collaborate with both the business community and educational institutions in Cyprus. This partnership aims to harness coaching's potential for fostering personal growth and enhancing employee development".
Being an integral part of the global ICF coaches community, the Cyprus Chapter intends to foster cross-chapter synergy. Yury Zachek remarks, "We are proud to be part of the global ICF coaches community and also plan to strengthen our cooperation with other well-established ICF Chapters like ICF Greece and ICF UK in order to share and implement best practices."
