Total car sales dropped significantly in October 2022 compared with the month before mainly due to the steep drop in passenger saloon cars.
According to data published by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat) total vehicle registrations in October amounted to 2,481 marking a drop of 6.2% compared with October 2021, while compared with September 2022 total car sales dropped by 27.3%.
Passenger saloon cars in October dropped by 7.1% year on year to 1,862, while compared with September 2022 saloon cars declined by 31.9%. Saloon cars amounted to 75% of total vehicle sales in October.
For the period of January – October 2022, total registrations declined by 4.2% to 29,062 compared with 30,345 in the respective period of last year.
Passenger saloon car sales decreased to 23,045 from 23,341 in January-October 2021, recording a reduction of 1.3%.
Of the total passenger saloon cars, 9.895 or 42.9% were new and 13.150 or 57.1% were used cars, Cystat added.
