The Tax Department has announced that the submission of the VAT Declaration and the payment of the due tax for the period ending on August 31, 2023, are extended until October 16, 2023.
The extension was deemed necessary due to the interruption in the operation of the department's computer systems, scheduled to take place from October 6, 2023 (at 15:30) until October 8, 2023, for the purpose of upgrading the Government Internet Gateway.
The Government Internet Gateway is expected to resume operation on October 9, 2023, at which point the computer systems will be fully operational again.
Submitting the above declaration and making any tax payments after October 16, 2023, will be considered overdue and subject to a financial penalty of €100 for late submission of the declaration, an additional 10% tax on the due VAT, and interest charges until full payment is made.
