Police on Sunday night arrested a third person wanted in connection with the kidnapping of a 48-year-old woman who was allegedly held against her will in a hotel and forced into prostitution.

The latest arrest came just before 10 p.m., when a 44-year-old woman was taken into custody under a court warrant. Meanwhile, two other suspects, a 51-year-old man and a 79-year-old, remain in detention for eight days as police continue their investigation.

The case first came to light on Saturday after Romanian authorities alerted Cypriot police that a Romanian woman, aged 48, had arrived in Cyprus recently with the 51-year-old man and was possibly being held against her will in a Paphos hotel. Officials also noted she was expected to travel to Poland later that day.

Paphos Crime Detection officers immediately checked the hotel but did not find the woman. Later the same day, the police located her outside Paphos Airport with the 51-year-old man, and she asked for help.

In their conversation, the woman told officers that after arriving in Cyprus, she stayed in a hotel with the man, who did not allow her to leave without his escort. On two occasions, he forced her to meet customers at some premises in Paphos in exchange for payment.

As the investigation progresses, police arrested the 51-year-old man and the 79-year-old suspect, both under court orders. The 44-year-old woman arrested Sunday is the third person linked to the case.

The Paphos Crime Detection Department continues to probe the incident as authorities work to bring all involved to justice.
