Cyprus has expanded its road safety measures with 29 fixed cameras and 20 mobile cameras now in operation across key locations in the free areas of the island. This initiative aims to reduce serious accidents and enhance road safety awareness.

The distribution of cameras is as follows:

- Limassol: 10 locations with 29 fixed cameras.
- Nicosia: 7 locations with 22 cameras.
- Larnaca: 7 locations with 20 cameras.
- Paphos: 5 locations with 16 cameras.

The light detection system will monitor speed limit violations, red light breaches, and stop line infractions at traffic-controlled intersections. It will also record instances of not using seat belts, helmets, and other safety regulations.

This enhanced surveillance is part of a broader effort to improve road safety and reduce traffic-related incidents across Cyprus.
