A Cypriot family is urgently seeking financial support to save their young son, Abraham Savva, who has been diagnosed with a rare and severe neurological disorder called Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM). The condition causes inflammation in the brain and spinal cord, leading to serious damage to the nervous system.
Abraham is currently being treated at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, where doctors have described his situation as critical. Despite receiving intensive treatment in the UK, his condition has not improved as hoped.
His parents, Andreas Savva and Androulla Papachristoforou, both originally from Cyprus, are now exploring the possibility of transferring their son to a specialized medical center in Israel or the United States, where teams with greater experience in treating ADEM may be able to offer advanced therapies.
In a public message shared on social media, the family said that doctors have expressed serious concerns about Abraham’s recovery under the current treatment options. They are appealing to the public to help fund the transfer and ongoing care needed abroad.
Even small contributions, the family noted, could make a vital difference in giving their son a chance at recovery.
